7 Top-Rated Skincare Products for Sensitive Skin

In the past few years, I’ve taken a special interest in skincare and learning more about how to properly protect and care for my skin – it’s the biggest organ in the body, after all! But throughout high school and college, I didn’t even think twice about it. I would sleep with my makeup on several nights per week because I was too lazy to take it off, and the only skincare product I used was Neutrogena face wash. How I didn’t break out with cystic acne, I’ll never know.

As I grew into my 20s, I started discovering products through my old job at a beauty-heavy brand and from my Sephora-obsessed roommate. I immediately noticed the difference a few good moisturizers and oils can make, and I wanted to continue figuring out what works best for me. One thing I learned very quickly is that I have sensitive skin, so harsh serums and cleansers can leave my face red and dry. Luckily, after lots of experimentation, I’ve found some great skincare products for sensitive skin that leave me glowy and fresh.

Cleanser: TATCHA Rice Polish $65

This is easily in my top five favorite skincare products of all time. I use this as a daily cleanser and it’s seriously the best start to my morning routine. It’s a unique powder formula made from Japanese rice bran (hence, the name) to help exfoliate the skin. I simply pour a small amount of powder into my hand and mix it with water to create a foamy texture before applying it to my face. I also like to pair this with the TATCHA Camellia Cleansing Oil when my skin needs a little extra TLC.

Toner: SKIN & CO Roma Face Toner $27

OK, so I had never really used a toner until I discovered this one. It’s infused with truffle, calendula, rose, and rosemary to help soothe and prep the skin, and I swear I can feel it tightening my pores instantly after applying it. I use a cotton swab to gently rub the toner into my skin after cleansing, before applying creams and makeup.

Eye Cream: RoC Retinol Correxion $19

I don’t know if it’s from smiling too much or not getting enough sleep (maybe both), but I have noticeable crow’s feet and bags under my eyes on the regular. I got a free sample of this retinol cream at an event I went to about a year ago, and I haven’t looked back since. It’s super gentle on the skin and keeps puffiness at bay. I apply this every morning and night!

SPF Lotion: Obagi Soothing Complex $79

This product is a bit pricey but totally worth it! I have naturally pretty tan skin thanks to the Spanish side of my family, so I never cared too much to put on sunscreen growing up. Of course, after diving deeper into the world of skincare and beauty, I learned how important applying SPF every day really is. This lotion is ultra creamy and thick, making it protective and soothing on sensitive skin.

Daily Moisturizer: Freck Beauty Rich Bitch $32

For those with dry and sensitive skin, this moisturizer feels like butter oozing into your pores. It’s so soft and creamy! It can, however, leave my skin feeling a little greasy, so I usually apply this at night if I’m not using a beauty oil or serum.

Face Mask: Summer Fridays R+R Mask $52

Shout out to my former roomie mentioned above for this fantastic find! The gel-textured mask features ground wild rose powder to remove dead skin cells and antioxidant-rich oils to nourish the skin. After a short 10 minutes, it leaves me feeling so refreshed and my skin glowing. I also apply this mask on my neck and chest for an added at-home spa treatment!

Serum: Herbivore Prism $54

This beauty oil has become a part of my nighttime ritual. It’s super lightweight and exfoliates without being too harsh on the skin. It contains AHA and BHA to target blemishes and dark spots, so I apply this before bed to let it work its magic while I sleep!
