5 Trendy Hair Accessories and How to Style Them

I might be on the verge of 25 years old, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like a good bow in my hair. IMO, there’s nothing like a cute updo or accessory to complete your look of the day, and the options are truly endless! Whether I’m having a bad hair day or my ‘fit needs a little extra pizazz, I can always count on claw lips and scrunchies to come through for me.

In case you haven’t jumped on the hair accessory train yet (first of all, where have you been for the last year?), I’m sharing all my favorite pieces and where to shop them below!

Scarves: Madewell $12.50

The most versatile of the hair accessory squad? Scarves and bandanas. They can be worn in so many ways! When I’m on day three hair (or day four lol shh) I throw my hair in a ponytail or braid and add a scarf to dress it up.

Headbands: Anthropologie $18

I rewatched the entirety of Gossip Girl during quarantine, and it’s safe to say my love for headbands has been reignited. The Blaire Waldorf vibes are back and better than ever with endless headband designs on the market, which look great with simple curls or a low bun.

Pearl Clips: Amazon $5.99

Pearls have made a major comeback in the last year or two, and I can’t say that I’m upset about this. They’re simple yet elegant and go with pretty much any ensemble. I like to clip them on a deep side part or add it to the back of a twisted ‘do.

Scrunchies: Shop Andi $6

Contrary to popular belief, scrunchies are not limited to the VSCO girl demographic. I’ve pretty much replaced regular hair ties with a colorful collection of scrunchies since they’re better for your hair and, let’s face it, a lot cuter. My favorite way to wear these is in a low pony for a casual look or a high half-up bun for something a little more fun!

Bows: Lulus $10

Maybe it’s the former cheerleader in me speaking, but bows are just the cutest accessory! They’re preppy and fun for more formal occasions or a spring/summer outing, whether you throw your hair up in a bun or a half-up hairstyle. (P.S. The one pictured below was from American Apparel, but I linked another one that’s just as adorable.)
